Important Quote: "Worsley named the place 'Mark Time Camp,' but it didn't seem an especially appropriate name. It implied that they had halted only temporarily, and would be on the move again. But nobody really believed they would. (100)."
Lit Term: Literary License- "And so they drifted into March.(117)."
Discussion: As the crew travel closer and closer to land, they seem to stop and even travel further away from it. Supplies are running low and the dogs must be shot. Even their meat cannot suffice the crew for long. The attitudes of the men are slowly becoming more and more saddened and worried. In this case, I would have lost all hope for rescue. The times are getting desperate. Shackleton's situation reminds me of a song title by one of my favorite bands. "Get Out Alive" by Three Days Grace says to run for your life to survive. Shackleton's men must survive.
I found this to be ironic because all the men wanted was to reach some kind of land, and no matter how hard they tried, they seemed to drift farther and farther away.
